Since I am currently trying to position myself in this Adik fandom, I am going to share what I have so far observed on the different kinds of fans JuliElmo has.
1. All-Out
All out because they’re out and shouting they are the most avid fans in the whole wide world. They use their own identities on their Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr accounts. They don’t care if they flood the timelines of their adik and non-adik followers and friends. What’s important is they get to be one with the adiks in trending for their most beloved loveteam. They go to JuliElmo’s mallshows, scream their hearts out with the biggest banners and tarpaulins on earth. They watch live on the Party Pilipinas studio and don’t mind being caught by the cameras. The whole world knows they’re JuliElmo fans, anyway.
That’s how much they show their love. They don’t mind being teased by others. They are adiks and proud!
2. Proud but Shy, at the same time
These adiks are everywhere. They tweet, blog and post everything about JuliElmo. They have their share in the trending powers. But all these they do with another Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr accounts, separate from that which they use for personal. Why? Because in their Adik accounts they are loud and proud. There, they flood the timelines of their co-adiks, yes, because most of their followers there are adiks too. It’s their small adik world no one in their family or in their circle of friends know about.
And so when they go to mall shows, concerts, at the PP studio, they shout the names of Julie and Elmo with the tarpaulins and banners covered right in front of their heads. Afraid of hulicam? Yeah, yeah.
But that doesn’t mean they love JuliElmo less. It’s just that they believe they can perform their adiks’ responsibilities better with their alter egos.
3. The Lurker
They are those who share the kilig and excitement from far, far away. They are members of the JuliElmo group on Facebook, follow Twitter and Tumblr accounts of other adiks but they remain silent. They seldom post but they lurk every minute of the day, reading the latest tweets of adiks or anticipating for the latest KV news and photos on the group.
They rarely post about their opinions on Twitter but they’re the first to get kilig when they see EmJa perform on PP. Check their timelines and all you can see are RTs whenever there is a need to trend.
Why lurk when they can participate? Probably because they’re shy, or they’re just really not into sharing their opinions. But imagine them lurking every minute of the day. That’s a huge effort just by it is.
4. The Supporters
While others RT everything they see on their timeline just to help on trending, there are others who really don’t participate in it. But that doesn’t mean they do not help the tandem. It’s because they’re more of supporters than of fans. Most of this type are those who are in their twenty, thirty, forty somethings who do not have all the time in the world to tweet because of work. But sure thing they’ll be there during concerts or major events. They are usually those who are close to Julie, supporting her in her projects. They’re the ate’s and kuya’s every adik looks up to. They buy every item endorsed by EMJA not for the sake of having the item (because they know they are old enough for PMag, for Candy, for Vans, for Accessorize, for Folded and Hung) but for the sake of being able to support Julie and Elmo.
I guess this is true also for the other fandoms out there. But what makes us different?
We outnumber them. We outshine them.
As Don Allado of the Fab Five once said: I don’t think anyone can beat the fans of @MyJaps . Too strong, too loyal and too large!
Oh well.**By the way, I think I fall under the Lurker.
Nice! isip isip, san ka nabibilang? hahaha
